A Message to My Younger Self (and you)

A Message to My Younger Self (and you)

I remember feeling completely lost and confused during my teenage years. I am convinced that I shouldn't have made it through that period. There were moments when I truly believed I wouldn’t. If I delve even deeper, I felt unworthy of this life back then. Now, as I write this at age 51, I find myself with a beautiful family and a life beyond my wildest dreams. So, if time machines were real, what would I tell my younger self?

First, I would tell you that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. Life is a series of twists and turns, and that uncertainty you feel is just a part of the adventure. Embrace it, because it's going to teach you resilience and patience.

I would remind you to cherish every small victory, because those moments, however fleeting, are the building blocks of your future happiness. Celebrate the little things—they are more meaningful than you can imagine.

I would encourage you to be kind to yourself. You are your own harshest critic, but you deserve the same compassion and understanding that you so freely give to others. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help; reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.

And most importantly, I would tell you to follow your heart. Trust your instincts even when the world seems to be steering you in another direction. Your passions and dreams are valid, and they will guide you to where you are meant to be.

You are going to make mistakes, and that’s perfectly fine. They are not failures but lessons that will shape you into the person you are destined to become. Keep your heart open, and never stop believing in the power of hope and love.

Your future self is proud of you, not just for the successes, but for the courage it took to get there. So, keep going, keep dreaming, and never lose faith in the incredible journey that is your life.

I share this with you as a lesson from my own journey. Remember, even in the darkest moments, there's always a light ahead. Keep your chin up, and know that I'm rooting for you.
